The World Council for Psychotherapy African Chapter announces its

SECOND AFRICAN CONFERENCE ON PSYCHOTHERAPY

To be organised by the Department of Psychology, University of the North, Private Bag X1106, Sovenga 0727, Pietersburg, South Africa.

Date: 30th November to 5th December 1998

Venue: University of the North, Private Bag X1106, Sovenga 0727, Pietersburg, South Africa.

TOPICS: Topics include: African traditional healing, Schools of psychotherapy, Psychotherapy and politics, Psychotherapy and human development, Psychotherapy and health, Psychotherapy in special areas, etc. It is however recommended that all topics should be relevant to Africa.

TOUR PROGRAMME

1. HALF DAY TOUR OF PIETERSBURG: Pietersburg is a modern city, but it still forms part of the natural splendour of the province.

Itinery:

· The tour will start after lunch

· Visit to Bakone Malapa Ethnic Museum.

· Cold drinks will be served in the bus.

· After visit to Bakone Malapa, proceed to Gemco, an art and craft factory.

Price per person: US$ 60,00 (Entrance fees included). Minimum 2 persons per group.

2. FULL-DAY BUS TOUR TO THE KRUGER NATIONAL PARK.

Price per person: US$ 100,00 (Entrance fees and light refreshment/snack in the bus are included).

3. NORTHERN PROVINCE & MPUMALANGA LUXURY TOUR - 4 nights, 5 days.

Day 1: Depart for Mpumalanga via scenic Drakensberg and Strijdon Tunnels - visit the Potholes and various water falls - overnight near Sabie (with dinner, bed & breakfast).

Day 2: The next day after breakfast, depart for Hoedspruit to visit the world renown Cheetah Project including the King Cheetah - overnight at a Game Lodge - fully inclusive - a haven in the heart of 1200 hectare of pristine African bush. The perfect blend of exotic African splendour and luxury - game drives (day and night), are included - all inclusive except drinks.

Day 3. Full day at the Game lodge including early morning game drive, game walks and various other outings - overnight at a Game Lodge - all inclusive except drinks.

Day 4: Departure for Pietersburg via subtropical forest, fruit and tea plantations of Magoebaskloof - overnight in Pietersburg (with dinner, bed & breakfast).

Day 5: After breakfast, depart for Johannesburg International Airport.

4. FLY-IN TOUR TO CAPE TOWN - 3 days 2 nights

Day 1: Take an early morning flight direct to Cape Town - Airport transfer to your lodge, (with bed & breakfast)- enjoy half day tour of Cape Town visiting some historical and scene sites in the "Mother City" with a visit to the Waterfront for dinner.

Day 2: Full day tour of the Cape Winelands, visiting Paarl, Franschhoek and the University of Stellenbosch - lunch on one of the wine estates sampling the estate wines. Return to the lodge. Dinner can be enjoyed at one of the many restaurants in the city.

Day 3: Full day tour of Cape Town - Table Mountain, Cape Point with lunch at restaurant in Hout Bay en route the scenic peninsular drive - dinner can be enjoyed at one of the many restaurants in the area. Late afternoon transfer to airport - end of tour.

Price: US$ 1100,00 single (with dinner, bed & breakfast) (US$ 1000,00 per person sharing) - flight back from Cape Town to Johannesburg, Lunch, entrance fees and refreshment are not included. Minimum 20 Maximum 24 persons per group.

5. COUCH TOUR - CAPE TOWN VIA GARDEN ROUTE - 8 Days 7 nights

Day 1: Leave Pietersburg very early after breakfast - overnight in Bloemfontein (with dinner, bed & breakfast).

Day 2: Leave early for Graaff-Reinet - overnight in a Hotel (with dinner, bed & breakfast). The next morning proceed to Oudtshoorn where you overnight. In the afternoon visit an Ostrich Farm.

Day 3: After breakfast visit the Cango Caves and in the afternoon proceed to Knysna - overnight in Knysna.

Day 4: Spend the day in Knysna region enjoying the scenic beauty and browsing through the various shops and stalls - overnight in Knysna.

Day 5. Leave after an early breakfast for Cape town via the Garden Route - arrive late afternoon - after checking in freshen up and enjoy a quiet dinner at one of the many restaurants in the area - overnight in a lodge (with bed & breakfast).

6. FLY-IN TOUR TO VICTORIA FALLS - 3 Days 2 nights.

Day 1: After breakfast enjoy a pleasant 2 hour flight to the Victoria Falls. Upon arrival check in at an Hotel and freshen up. Enjoy a drink on the patio whilst overlooking the gorge and bridge.

Afternoon visit to the falls standing at the feet of David Livingstone. Visit the Cultural Village Extravaganza before enjoying the colonial dinner at the hotel - overnight in Hotel at the Falls (with bed & breakfast).

Day 2: After enjoying the hearty breakfast go browsing the street markets, curio shops and for the adventurous, white river rafting, golf and horse riding etc, can be arranged. Dinner at the Boma tribal restaurant is included - overnight in the Hotel (with bed & breakfast).

Day 3: Spending the morning doing last minute shopping and final visit to the falls before flying to Johannesburg International Airport to arrive in time for overseas flights out of South Africa.

Price: US$ 1650.00 single (with bed & breakfast) (US$ 1400,00 per person sharing).

The above rates do not include lunches, dinners, entrance fees and over-border Passenger Taxes, rafting, etc. and drinks. Minimum 20 Maximum 24 persons per group.

7. COACH TOUR TO VICTORIA FALLS - 5 Days 4 nights

Day 1: Depart from Pietersburg to Beitbridge for Masvingo - overnight in the Hotel (with bed & breakfast).

Day 2: Early morning guide tour of the ancient Zimbabwe ruins and then leave for Bulawayo - overnight in Bulawayo (with bed & breakfast).

Day 3: Short tour to the Matobos and depart for Victoria Falls - overnight in Hotel at the Falls (with bed & breakfast).

Day 4: Morning tour of the falls and Zambezi River. Evening Cultural Village extravaganza - overnight Hotel (with bed & breakfast) - entrance to Cultural Village included.

Day 5: Spending morning doing last minute shopping and final visit to the falls before flying to Johannesburg International Airport to arrive in time for flight out of South Africa.

Price: US$ 1100,00 single (with bed & breakfast) (US$ 1000,00 per person sharing).

The above rates do not include lunches, dinners, entrance fees and over-border Passenger Taxes, rafting, etc. and drinks. Minimum 10 Maximum 18 persons per group.

NB: The quoted rates are based on current airfares, and availability of seats and accommodation.

Important Instructions:

All flights to the conference must be booked up till PIETERSBURG. The earlier you book the better, because the aircraft going to Pietersburg from Johannesburg is small. If due to lateness in booking, you are not able to book direct to Pietersburg, you may charter a taxi from Johannesburg to Pietersburg (about 3 hours journey by road).
