Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to Rome for the 7th EAP Conference following the meetings in Vienna(1991), Budapest (1992), Berlin (1993), London (1994), Zurich (1995) and Vienna (1996). The event is of great interest since the EAP actually represents the largest European organisation in this profession compising 14 National Umbrella Organisations and 180 organizations representing 60.000 psychotherapists and the different approaches in psychotherapy.

The major aim of the conference, besides the ever refreshing experience of meeting colleagues from all over Europe, will be:

• Discussing and approving the document on the European Certificate of Psychotherapy (ECP) after two years intensive work by the working group.
•  
• Defining the basic concepts which might be considered as a "Common Ground" of this profession no matter which specific orientation each psychotherapist belongs to.
•  
• Exploring special issues through symposia on supervision, laws and orientations on psychotherapy, ethics, scientific validation, academic and private training and many other relevant themes in psychotherapy hosted by the prestigious National Council for Research.
•  
• Defining the general criteria and methodologies to implement a European Directory of Psychotherapists effectively trained in the different approaches.
•  
• Exploring the interface between philosophy and psychotherapy through a pre-conference symposium.
•  
• Sharing knowledge and personal and professional experiences through intensive workshops hosted by the most representative Roman schools in psychotherapy.

A range of activities will be available for you to enjoy the "eternal city". Also the hotels have been chosen inside the old town in order to provide a full experience of the Roman atmosphere.

We look forward to sharing with you the joy and the honour of celebrating a kind of formal birth of our profession at a European level.

INFORMAZIONI GENERALI

The EAP Conference will be held at the Congress Hall of S. Michele, a restored building alongside the Tiber river just in the Trastevere area in Via S. Michele, 22. Simultaneous plenary sessions will be also held at the City Hall, Protomoteca del Campidoglio.

The Satellite Symposia and the Working Groups will take place at the National Council of Researches in Pizza A. Moro n. 1, in front of "La Sapienza" University, close to the railway Termini station.

The Workshops will be mainly hosted by the Roman training schools for psychotherapy.
