Si svolgerà a Santa Flavia, alle porte di Palermo, in una suggestiva cornice di rocce e di mare dai mille colori, il Sesto Congresso Europeo di Psicoterapia della Gestalt dall’1 al 4 ottobre 1998.

È la prima volta che tale prestigioso meeting si svolge in Italia da quando questo modello di psicoterapia è sorto negli anni cinquanta. La Presidente della Associazione Europea di Psicoterapia della Gestalt, la d.ssa Margherita Spagnuolo Lobb, ha organizzato in modo attento, puntuale e con grande apertura questo Congresso, coinvolgendo la FISIG (Federazione Italiana Scuole e Istituti di Psicoterapia della Gestalt), i vari istituti europei e numerosi terapeuti, per lo più membri della EAGT (European Association for Gestalt Therapy). Significativo sarà anche il confronto con terapeuti di Istituti non europei, in particolare l’Istituto di New York (il New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy, in cui la Psicoterapia della Gestalt è stata fondata), la AAGT, grande associazione statunitense di terapeuti della Gestalt, l’Istituto di Cleveland.

Si tratta di un’occasione unica per incontrare la maggioranza dei più significativi terapeuti che compongono l’attuale Comunità gestaltica nel mondo.

Saranno affrontate tematiche che riguardano, in primo luogo, il rigore teorico e clinico dei nuovi trends in psicoterapia, e specificamente della Psicoterapia della Gestalt, in secondo luogo la risposta che i terapeuti della Gestalt stanno offrendo e intendono offrire ai grandi travagli della società di oggi alle porte del duemila: la crisi della gioventù, le problematiche della coppia e della famiglia, della sessualità e dei problemi di genere, l’impatto delle problematiche sociali e culturali nello sviluppo della persona, i problemi politici e le organizzazioni, le "nuove" patologie (narcisistiche, borderline, alimentari) le recenti prospettive diagnostiche e d’intervento, i limiti della psicoterapia in genere e della Psicoterapia della Gestalt in particolare.

Sono previste ben quindici tavole rotonde, 54 Workshops e 35 mini-lectures. Particolare attenzione sarà data, nello svolgimento del Congresso, ai processi di gruppo dei partecipanti.

Da Palermo -crocevia storico e geografico di popoli e di culture le più distanti - la Psicoterapia della Gestalt si muove verso il terzo millennio "rivisitando" i propri strumenti teorici e clinici per facilitare incontri genuini tra le persone e le culture, nella valorizzazione delle differenze e nella promozione delle genuine qualità dei legami e delle appartenenze.

Questi, come dice la Presidente, sono gli obiettivi e l’augurio di questo Congresso, che si preannuncia ricco e intrigante.

The Conference has been organised by Margherita Spagnuolo Lobb, President of the European Association for Gestalt Therapy, with the aim of gathering the European Community of Gestalt therapists and letting it express its opinions, even before colleagues from all over the world.

She has been helped, first of all by the Gestalt Therapy Institute, which she leads together with Giovanni Salonia - the Istituto di Gestalt , H.C.C. - an officially recognised Italian training institute for Gestalt Therapy. The Institute has provided the financial and technical support for the organisation of the Conference. Dr. Spagnuolo Lobb has been helped in paticular by Francesca Calcinella, secretary at the Institute, by dr. Giovanna Giordano, and other Institute staff members.

The Italian Federation of Gestalt Therapy Institutes has recognised the Conference at a national level.

At a European level, the Conference has been supported by all the Gestalt therapists and Institutes, mostly members of the EAGT, who agreed to take part in this wonderful event.

At an international level, the Conference has been supported by the New York Institute for Gestalt Therapy, who spontaneously shared our enthusiasm in the original theory of Gestalt therapy and our faith in the good, the true and the beautiful as represented by all the different perspectives existing in our approach. The AAGT has also supported this European event, spreading news of it widely and openly during its recent Conference, and in many other friendly ways. The Cleveland Institute and all the Gestalt therapists from all over the world gave a fundamental contribution to the Conference with their precence and desire to exchange their research, practise, thoughts, cultural perspectives.
